On Thursday, March 24th, we went to the Galt Museum to learn more about bridges, specifically our High Level Bridge. We learned many new interesting facts and even had an opportunity to build a bridge as a group that had to span the coulee and hold the weight of 4 trains. The twist; students were not allowed to use tape, glue or scissors. Instead they had paper clips, elastic bands and pipe cleaners to use to attach popsicle sticks and cups to make their bridge. Each group completed a fantastic, stable bridge!
Thank you to the three parent volunteers that met us at the museum to help us with our bridge building!

April - Cancer Awareness Month
During the first week back after Easter, Mike Mountain Horse
will begin working on raising funds for Canadian Cancer Society. Perhaps you
will see some family over the Easter break. We will be doing a cancer walk on
April 12 and we are asking our students to collect from family to help with our
goal of raising $3000.00 for cancer research. Our beloved Mrs. Wik from
preschool will have her head shaved at an assembly on April 19. Any students
wishing to do the same are welcome to get a permission form from their
teachers.

Spelling - March 7-11
I have changed up our spelling program. Students will receive 5 new words a week, plus 3 challenge words. On Friday's spelling test, students will be tested on their new words, plus 5 old words, 2 pattern words and 3 challenge words. We have 3 spelling groups who will be working on the same pattern but with varied words.
This week we are not focusing on a particular pattern but rather a particular type of word. We will be viewing and working with Synonyms.
