Cancer Awareness Week

For the last two weeks, students at Mike Mountain Horse have been raising money for Cancer Awareness. The money we raised was donated to cancer research. As an added incentive Mrs. Wick (preschool) was going to shave her head if we raised over $3000. Well guess what?! We raised over $3300!!!!!!

Also, a very brave grade 3 student, Marisol from Ms. Rapson / Mrs. Barker's class also decided to shave her head and raise money for cancer research. We are so proud of you Marisol! Thank you for supporting Cancer Research.

The University Of Lethbridge Conservatory Of Music will be sponsoring the performance of ‘Compose Yourself’ for our grade 2, 3 and 4 students on Tuesday, May 3^rd from 9:15 – 11:15.  ‘Compose Yourself’ is a funny, witty and educational introduction to the Classical Orchestra directed by Glenn Klassen and performed by some of the best musicians in Lethbridge.  It promises to be a memorable musical experience for our young audience; very informative and entertaining.

In preparation for this very exciting production, MMH students will be participating in a number of learning activities introducing them to the names and sounds of the orchestra instruments. 

On May 3^rd our schedule will be as follows:

 9:15     Carpools leave MMH

 9:30    Arrival at Southminster Church (1011 – 4^th Ave South)

10:00    Compose Yourself performance

11:00    Return to MMH

Parents are needed to help drive and supervise students for this field-trip.  If you can help out with this worthwhile trip, please contact Mrs. Fahey!

Ukrainian Pysanky

 The following letter will be sent home with your child tomorrow. 

Dear Parents:

As part of our Social Studies program, one of the countries that we are studying is the Ukraine.  One part of the program is to look at traditions and celebrations.  We will be doing traditional Ukrainian Pysanky (egg decorating) and are in need of parental assistance. The kids will be working with traditional pysanky tools and using candles to melt bee’s wax.  If you are willing to help please fill in the form below and check off the times you are available.  Due to the nature of the activity we cannot accommodate younger siblings.

Thank you for all your help and support.  Parent assistance is required for this activity, as candles will be used to melt wax and kids need help to complete the delicate egg dying process.  If you can assist on any of the days below please complete the form and return to school as soon as possible. 

If you are able to assist on more than one day that would be great.
